What's the difference between the silver and the black blades?

The full steel blades – the ones that are silver like the Andis UltraEdge, Geib Buttercut and Wahl Competition Series - are the more popular sellers. The black blades - like the Wahl Ultimate Competition Series - tend to be more expensive, as they have an extra process that dips them in a protective coating. The black coating helps fill in the natural surface imperfections of the steel for a smoother, faster clip, and gives blades an extra layer of protection for rust resistance.
