Corded Clippers:

Andis AGC Super 2 Speed and Andis Excel 5 Speed

Andis Clippers - Left to Right - Andis AGC Black, Burgundy, Blue, Pink. Andis Excel 5 Sparkle Pink, Black, Magenta

Cleaning:

At the end of each day, make sure you remove the blade and clean your clipper head and blades. Brush away as much hair as possible from around the blade hinge and blade drive.

Blades should be disinfected in between each groom with a cleaner such as the Andis Blade Care Coolant spray. At the end of each day, or before storage, your blades should be given a full clean. Remove the blade from your clipper and push the inner cutter over to one side (be careful not to push it all the way out!). Brush any hair from the blade using a blade cleaning brush, and repeat on the other side. Put the blade back on your clipper and dip the tip of the blade into a cleaning solution, such as Andis Blade Care Dip Tub or Wahl Blade-X, and let your clipper run for a few seconds. Remove the blade from the solution and dry the blade using a towel or velocity dryer. Apply blade oil to the blade and run the clipper for a few seconds. If you will be storing your blade for longer than a week, apply excess oil and wrap in baking paper or a zip-lock bag.

At least once a week, you should remove the blade drive cap and remove any hair that is stuck in the foam filter pad and underneath the cap. The foam filter does need to be replaced when it becomes too worn or clogged with fur. This filter prevents hair making its way further into the housing of the clipper. Cleaning often will help to extend the overall lifespan of your clipper. If you need further advice, please get in touch.

Storing:

When storing the clipper, avoid wrapping the cable around the clipper, and avoid bending near the base of the cord. Try to keep the cord at flat as possible during storage to prevent damage to the cord set.

Servicing:

Check your blade drive for wear monthly. If the corners of your blade drive are rounded, replace your blade drive to get the best results from your clipper. Most clippers will need to have their blade drive replaced every 2-6 months depending on use. Not sure how to tell when its time to replace your blade drive? Check out our guide on this here

Every 6-12 months, depending on use, you should give your clippers a full internal service. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, we have an Authorized Andis Technician available for servicing and repairs, just get in touch and we are happy to help.

A service normally includes a full internal inspection and clean, as well as a full set of performance tests. Our technicians will also check your foam filter and blade drive and replace these parts when necessary.
